Suan Thai & Japanese welcomes you to enjoy a variety of our popular dishes, rolls and loose-leaf organic teas. With lunch and dinner served daily and favorite dishes such as hamachi jalapeno and duck noodle soup, as well as our long list of sushi, we offer many exceptional choices!
In 1980, three high school friends met in the suan, the nickname for their old school in Bangkok, Thailand. Thirty-four years later in 2014, they joined up to open the restaurant using the name of the place they first met. Suan Thai and Japanese’ interior pays tribute with a panoramic photo of their old school. The black-and-white checkered floor, black sushi bar and open kitchen complete the sleek design while accents of pink and blue complement the matching servers’ uniforms. “Suan means garden in Thai,” says co-owner, Somporn “Paul” Komolvasri, a 20-year sushi chef. Located on the western edge of Victoria Park, the restaurant joins his Siam Oishi in Hallandale Beach and offers an extensive menu including a variety of favorite dishes. Green and red curries with choice of protein and hamachi jalapeno are two popular dishes as well as the duck noodle soup and steamed or lightly battered and fried whole red snapper with ginger, pineapple, mushrooms, onions and bell peppers, called Ginger Fish.
